Letter to Sebastian On Arnulf Rainer 21 August 2021

Dear Sebastian,

Always thanks for your likes to my uploads.
Yesterday You liked Letter to WPM 2019-2021 that is my little records of study at time.
Language is vast and deep, at where I roam around day in, day out.
The learning almost inspires me , but I also frequently worry to going ahead.

At those occasions, I separate from thinking or writing and see several books of paintings.
One of my favourite authors is Arnulf Rainer, Austria, whose mountain drawings are really inspire my heart.
They send various massages to me, You are free, You may go to everywhere you want, You can abandon your all past papers remaining only you keep to think and write from now on
.

I met with Rainer’s work at Kiyosato Museum of Contemporary Art, Nagano, Japan in early 1990s.
The museum also collect Beuys and Fluxus that are all send me free winds probably from future we will go.

The world of language is vast and infinite, never able to hold by one person, one time or one tiny world.
I never want to solve the questions on language, never write a real phase of language.
But I will keep on writing hereafter, why, I stay here, and I feel every new thing from language every day.
I stand here with it and I see and listen to some tiny massages from it, if I am free like Rainer’s drawing.

Yours sincerely,

T.A.

Letter to WPM. Site and Paper History from 2003 with P.S. 26 September 2020

Dear WPM,

Thanks for your repeated retweets.

Now I have remembered my SRFL sites and papers tiny history since 2003.
SRFL succeeds Sekinan Library’s research work, which work were not published on Web site representation and main work was reading of Chinese Ying Dynasty’s classic traditional linguistics result
s.

Site Name History

SRFL has uploaded the papers on language universals since 2003, when the site name was using sekinan.org.
Now its name is not adopted by not-using the self-managed website.

From 2014, I have mainly used Weebly site titled Sekinan initials. So crowned Sekinan sites contain mainly early papers and essays although being renewed appropriately. Also I have used Wix site for invitation being named SIL initials.

But the papers have gradually increased. In 2016 I have newly used Webnode site for the reason storing up more papers easily.  Webnode sites are titled mainly SRFL initials, which papers are from Middle to Present.

Besides Weebly and Webnode, I have used WebsiteSite 123 for simplified and invitational  sites, so these sites are almost Modern papers and essays and understandable invitation articles to the study of language. Contained papers are rather few but probably more readable, especially to the first visiting learners of language problems, naming is ENSILA for Website and Sekinan for Site 123.

Now I have used Webnode for garner of papers and essays. Site123 is for classificational by themes and writing times. Webnode’s this SRFL is adopted to main invitational site for the time being.

Early SRFL’s Papers and Themes were placing great importance on language universals developed from Qing Dynasty’s linguistic results and newly opened Linguistic Circle of Prague which were taught from CHINO Eiichi who was the teacher of Russian language in 1969 and 1970 and again from 1979 I began to learn Prague’s tradition.

Short Historical Note for Research

Sekinan Library’s main theme is language universals that has been researched since 1920s at Linguistic Circle of Prague.

The existence of the circle
had been always put at the centre of the study.
In Japan. on Prague School CHINO Eiichi probably first introduced systematically through his direct study experience at Prague between 1958 and 1964.

I first met with him in 1969 at Tokyo, from whom received Russian language at beginner’s small class.
And after I again met him in 1979 for his lecture of structural linguistics., to which I listen till March 1986.

In this year I also started own object on language, which was language universals by mathematical description, surging from Nicolas Bourbaki, that were applied to wide and deep approach even at human studies.

For me algebraic geometry was the great aid to deepen the theme, to which at 1920s many researchers recognised its importance but hard not operated with clear description at the field of phonology.

In 2003 I narrowly wrote up a trial paper on characters, at that time not for total language, but I got the steady way to approach the hard target of meaning, through which I faintly could see the final target, language universals.

But I left Language Universals by the reason that this theme was dragged from the traditional ways of thinking on language not accurate research of firm basis. So now I do not call my research linguistics.
I am not a linguist or philologist. Probably I am a mere philosopher following Ludwig Wittgenstein
.

For WITTGENSTEIN Ludwig Revised
Position of Language

1  Quantization 1  is a cliff for consideration of language.

2 Mathematical interpretation of quantized language is now a first step to the theoretical ascent.

3 If there is not mathematics, next conjectures are impossible.
(i) Difference between word and sentence— Commutative and noncommutative ring
(ii) Continuation from word to sentence— Tomita’s fundamental theorem
(iii) Word’s finiteness and sentence’s infinity— Property infinite  and  purely infinite
(iv) Cyclic  structure of word’s meaning— Infinite cyclic group

4  Meaning minimum 2 ,  mirror language  and  mirror symmetry 4  are inevitable approach to the study of language especially for  language universals 5.

5 Symplectic Language Theory, Floer Homology Language and Arithmetic Geometry Language are adopted as the model theory for natural language in the recent.

6 Hereinafter the model theory will be entered to the new concept .  The Model  of Language Universals   will be shown by the description of mathematics .

P.S.

In high school days I had yearned for philosophy at first and the next Physics.
Refer to the next.

Glitter of youth through philosophy and mathematics in 1970s

In 1970s at Tokyo or in my age 20s there surely exists glitter of youth in my life, now I remember.
In those days, in Japan many fabulous magazines were successively published. Episteme,Toshi(City)、Chugoku(China) and the likes. Especially I loved reading Episteme which had printed many philosophical or philological articles as the form of special issues concentrated important philosopher, thinker and writer. The chief editor of Episteme was NAKANO Mikitaka(1943-2007), probably one of the best editors in the latter half of the 20th century in Japan.  The most impressive number was Ludwig Wittgenstein(1889-1951), probably in 1977. Also influenced from the issue of Kurt Gödel(1906-1978)who gave me the possibility of set theory.

In my life, Wittgenstein gave the big influence for thinking and writing style, never entering or approaching his essential philosophical themes.Aftermillennium year when I started the regular writing on language universals, my writing style was resembling in his Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. My paper written in 2003, Quantum Theory for Language shows a very imitative style to him. This tendency kept on for some time till I changed to adopt algebraic method for more clear description to the themes.

1970s was a relatively calm times after those university’s revolution in the late 1960s in which I also compellingly rolled in. In those days I almost had been wandering between library and old book shops aiming my life-time true themes cowardly avoiding the turmoils of university and towns. Blaise Pascal(1623-1662)’s Pansees was my favourite one. One day at Kanda’s Taiwan chinese book shop Kaifu Shoten, I bought WANG Guowei(1877-1927)’s Guantangjilin that opened the new frontier for classical Chinese philology mainly streamed by “Small Study”, traditional exegetics in China. Influenced WANG Guowei I wrote a paper titled On Time Property Inherent in Characters, 2003 by which I began the latter start of language study.

In 1970s, I had cherished a dream in which I wanted to use mathematical description and get the essential of language. But I had not any ability to proceed the study for it while I read at random several mathematical books. One day I found and bought the amount Nicolas Bourbaki(1935-)’s text books at old book shop in Kanda, Tokyo. They were hard to keep reading for my talent in those days. After all, the books were put aside the desk. The remaining in my mind was adoration to Bourbaki and their brilliant achievement. My return to Bourbaki was long after in 1990s when I again tried the pursuit of language having a clear vision to study language universals according to the Linguistic Circle of Prague, especially aiming to resolve the supposition presented by Sergej Karcevskij(1884-1955).

Turning round the past days, my way was always narrow and winding road. But it keeps till now not breaking off in any situations. The way was finely glittering in my youth days despite under the cloudy sky. Probably I have kept happily walking till now being assisted by many people especially at the field of language, mathematics and relevant studies.

At random now I remember the dear names from whom I  never cannot hear their voices. HASEGAWA Hiroshi, CHEN Donghai Chinese languageKAJIMURA Hideki,CHO Shokichi Korean languageNatary Muravjova Russian languageONO Shinobu Chinese literatureMIIYAZAKI Kenzo, FURUTA Hiromu, KONDO Tadayosh iJapanese literatureANDO Tsuguo French poemSAEKI Shoichi HaikuIKEDA Hiroshi Japanese classical dramaSAITO Kohei sculptureYAMAGISHI Tokuhei bibliographyNISHI Junzo Chinese philosophyKAWASAKI Tsuneyuki BuddhismCHINO Eiichi Russian language, the Linguistic Circle of Prague. At last dear friend of high school days KANEKO Yutaka mathematics and our youth.

I also had been longing for the bridge between Orient and West.
Saying in other words, I hoped to freely trudge seeing the high mountain range of wisdom.

Wellspring
Connection between Orient and West

1
I read two geniuses in my twenties at early 1970s.
WANG Guowei and WITTGENSTEIN Ludwig.
WANG’s Guantangjilin and WITTGENSTEIN’s TRACTATUS LOGICO-PHILOSOPHICUS.
I have continued thinking and writing by own-recognized WITTGENSTEIN’s TLP’s style throughout till now.
2
Linguistic themes are almost all depended on WANG’s papers.
Yin buci-zhong suojian xian-gong xian-wang kao ( Juan 9 Shilin 1) overwhelmed me by profound considerations and  citations from Chinese vast classic texts.
Wang-Heng Juan 9 Shilin 1) is the origin of  my early concept that consists of infinite cyclic meaning minimum  inherent in characters.
On Time Property Inherent in Characters and Prague Theory are early embodiment of the  concept.
3
On meaning of language, CHINO Eiichi taught me its fascination and hardship mainly throughout the works of Linguistic Circle of Prague.
KARCEVSKIJ Sergej showed me the most fascinating approach to the meaning’s flexibility in word.
4
From Orient, WANG Yinzhi lead me the meaning of word  especially by analysis of functional words in Chinese classics.
Jingzhuan shici is a compilation of his analysis by which I tried the concept of
positive and negative on the generation of word. The result is shown by early work Quantification of Quantum, from which the concepts of actual language and imaginary language are emerged. Early work of showing the concepts are Guarantee of LanguageMirror Language and Reversion Theory and the like.
5
ZHANG Bingling is the another peak of China.
Wenshi is the work I have tried to get understanding over and over again from my youth. My paper is tried as Energy of Language and Brown Motion as Language. Two papers are targeted to the energy inherent in language.

The Days of Decipherment. 2016

The Days of Decipherment. 2016

From author;
This essay is very dear for me now. 1960s was my age 20s and I was learning at university and after at a teacher at high school in the early 1970s.
It was a linguistics days in Japan, accurately a Language Decipherment days.
I learnt Old written Chinese at university and NISHIDA’s decipherment of Xixia characters impressed me deeply.
In Europe Lear B was deciphered by Ventris.
Those fine works were piled up in my youth.

The Days of Decipherment

TANAKA Akio

On 20 July 2016 I went Tokyo National Museum, Ueno Park, Tokyo to see the exhibition AJOURNEY TO THE IMMORTALS: TREASURES OF ANCIENT GREECE, where I saw the linear A and B. It reminds me the youth days, so to say, the days of decipherment.

1960s -1970s is the age of decipherment in a sense. I was age 20 in 1967 and was learning language and literature at university. In 1958 John Chadwick‘s THE DECIPHERMENT OF LINEAR B was published from Cambridge University Press. At the preface of the book he wrote that the decipherment of linear B was told at Documents in Mycenaean Greek (Cambridge University Press, 1956) and Michael Ventris that deciphered the Linear B.

In the same age in Japan, Xixia wenzi (Xixia characters) in China was deciphered by NISHIDA Tatsuo (1928-2012) who wrote the analysis and grammar of Xixia characters through the paper Seikamoji no bunseki narabini Seikago bunpou no kenkyuu in 1962.
In almost the same time, Inca characters were studying to decipher. I frequently heard that Russian team developed largely
.

In early 1970s I frequently went to Kanda, Tokyo where old bookshops were selling vast Oriental books at the Hakusan street and Yasukuni Street. I bought Chinese classics, especially linguistic classics written in the Qing dynasty and I read them almost every day containing the comparison with the western linguistic results. The Qing dynasty’s heritage were DUAN YucaiWANG NiansunWANG Yingzhi and WANG Guowei and so forth. DUAN Yucai’s Showenjezi zhu and WANG Guowei’s Guantang jilin  were the most important for me.

In France, 1960s was the days of Bourbaki that was one of the decipher of geometry by algebra, at least I thought so at that time. I sought and bought several Bourbaki’s books at the old bookshops in Kanda, Tokyo, which is the largest old bookshop streets in Japan. But from my ability to mathematics Bourbaki was too much difficult to read on. From the days the long and winding road began to mathematics and its applicable study for language universals.

At the exhibition of ancient Greece I confirmed in particular that the stability of language was  kept by letters and characters from the Linear A and Linear B.

Exhibition Catalogue numbers are the next.
The numbers 39 and 40 are Linear A. 41 and 77 are Linear B.

39. Clay juglet c. 1800 B.C. ~ c. 1700 B.C.
40. Clay bar c. 1700 B.C. ~ c. 1650 B.C.
41. Clay tablet c. 1375 B.C. ~ c. 1350 B.C.
77. Linear B bar and tablet c. the 13th century B.C.

For my part the stability has been one of the biggest themes on language phenomena since I was taught from CHINO Eiichi through the results of the Linguistic Circle of Prague, especially of Sergej Karcevskij.

Geometry is the only one expression for me to describe language universals containing the time which is one of the important elements of meaning. 2017. Translated by Google translate 2020

Geometry is the only one expression for me to describe language universals containing the time which is one of the important elements of  meaning

TANAKA Akio

C did not find it, following the facts and laws. And one day C died of a sudden illness. Leaving some books that loved linguistics. The name of the last book is Janua Linguisticae Reserataan open door to linguistics. As he says, the door was open to everyone. If you want to chase after all.

If C were alive, he might ask me again. What are you doing now? If C live, he also may ask me, “What are you researching now?” And I will answer as well. And I also will answer him as same as ever.
I am pursuing universality, not facts. I have pursued universals, never done facts, without repenting.

If he were alive, would I have climbed that steep staircase and talked again at the table with a low ceiling. Oh C, if you live, will we also talk on language at the table facing each other under the low ceiling of the shop, going up the steep stairs.

In order to avoid damaging the valuable manuscripts of the transposition theory, the discoverer himself took it on an airplane and delivered it. So how inspiring I was to get lost, C. The name of the store, which looked like a shack, was on the left just after entering the alley in front of the station. The name of the shop is California.

Let’s write it down now in our never-forgotten oblivion memorial. For the memory of our daily forgetful life, its never miserable though poor all over, I will write down our delight.

However, I continue to take a different direction, even though I apologize to C for his angry advice. The fact was not my subject. As it is a human event, everything manifests as a fact once. Some law may appear there. But I didn’t want that direction.

What I wanted was not a world of facts, but a fictional world. It probably explains almost nothing of this world. Useless. If it wasn’t blasphemy, it was close to art.

In the case of mine, the internal structure of the language went from set theory to geometry and then to geometry. In other words, time is also a meaning. He chose geometry now as the only way to clearly express a figure as a universal language expression, and there was no hesitation there.

Why I started Quantum-Nerve Theory? Note and Note 2 for The Time of Language

The Time of Language
Ode to The Early Bourbaki To Grothendieck
TANAKA Akio

In early 1970s, I had think of language from the side of mathematics, that level of mine is very low and primitive, moreover I never had any talent to mathematics.
But my eager to trying the approach was going to overcome hard barriers before me. So the route had really fascinated my mind for long time.At that time I had read Chinese classics almost every day. WANG Guowei, DUAN Yucai and WANG Yingzhi. They were giants on Chinese language historically and modernly.
On the other hand I had thought of language generally, not defined by Chinese. But in front of the vast world of language, I had stood still lonely, not taking any method for approaching.
Mathematics was the only gleam of hope in the wasteland.

[Note, 28 October 2014]
When I first learnt French in 1964, I was the second grade of high school. My aim to learning was to get the lowest readable situation for modern poems of French Symbolism represented by Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine.Afterwards in 1969 I knew the importance of Martinet’s work at the linguistic class of university. Probably in the early 1970s, I bought Bourbaki’s books at the old-book-shop at Kanda, Tokyo, when Bourbaki’s fame reached to the poor-talented linguistic student like me.

I was enchanted Bourbaki’s works and I somehow would like to adopt their results to my linguistic study. But my mathematical level was too low to get near Bourbaki’s world. From those days my wandering around mathematics and linguistics kept long long way like the Beatles song, The long and winding road.

What I again met mathematics, especially algebraic algebra was already over the twentieth century.

From 2003 I began to write papers being assisted with CHINO Eiichi’s advice and Sergej Karcevskij’s work. At that times Chinese Qing dynasty’s vast linguistic works topically represented by WANG Guowei was also assisting my study. At the result my first satisfied paper, “On Time Property Inherent in Characters”1 was completed. The theme in my life, model making of  language universals was begun further later in 2008 at Zoho site, sekinanlogos. At Complex Manifold Deformation Theory  I started writing more clearer descriptive papers by mathematics especially according to algebraic geometry. And now I step up one more and entered in arithmetic geometry  for solving more difficult themes such as dimension, synthesis and fusion of meaning in word.

[Note 2 2 May 2019]
5 years passed from I wrote Note at October 2014.
The situation for the research changed rather largely.

I and wife became older and I become 72 years old this summer while the both have illness.
We often go to the hospital for the treatment for what I often think that all the illness are probably on the nerves which make persistent flows in our body, which inevitably need energy for fluidity.

At these circumstances  I began to write a new paper titled What is signal? The existence that generates language,What is signal?, original title,   What is signal? A mathematical model of nerve. The text is the next.

https://srfl-theory.webnode.com/news/what-is-signal-total-edition-21-november-2018-23-april-2019/

So far I have thought of language at the point from language universals which are the most fantastic theme for me. But illness and its base nerve showed me the new site of language that is the real base of language. It was the signal which has energy and flows and hatch language in the human being.

Now I stand back at the manuscript written in 2003 at Hakba, Nagano, Japan titled Manuscript of Quantum Theory for Language. The text is the next.
